2004 honda civic review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Economy without sacrifice. introductionhonda's highly practical civic rolls into 2004 with a subtly but significantly new look. Bumpers, hood, headlights and grille are all new on the coupe and the sedan, emphasizing a baby-brother resemblance to the slick and smooth accord. The sporty si hatchback gets new headlamps and taillamps that update its sleek look.  honda civic is an icon. Honda sells more than 325,000 civics a year in the u. S., making it one of america's best-selling compacts. Civics are notable for their excellent fuel economy and sporty handling. Front-seat comfort is superb by any measure.  the honda civic line is composed of a family of diverse models. Coupes and sedans are available. Up-level civics come with powerful vtec engines that provide brisk acceleration. The si hatchback is the flagship performance model.  all civics are fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly, but a couple of models take these benefits to the extreme. The civic hx coupe gets 44 mpg on regular unleaded. More extreme is the civic hybrid, which gets up to 51 mpg on regular unleaded. The hybrid's gas engine is assisted by an electric motor. Unlike an electric car, the hybrid never needs to be plugged in. Owning and driving a civic hybrid is just like life with a regular civic. Sedans and coupes are available in dx, lx, and ex trim. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on all models. A new value package (vp) for the dx adds air conditioning, cd player, power locks, and center console. Lx adds air conditioning, 15-inch (rather than 14-inch) steel wheels, anti-roll bars front and rear, power-operated controls, a height-adjustable driver's seat, remote keyless entry, a cd player, and other luxury features.  civic ex models get more power from a 127-horsepower vtec version of the 1. 7-liter engine. Ex also gets 15-inch aluminum wheels, body-colored power mirrors, upgraded audio with six speakers, and a tilt-and-slide glass sunroof.  civic si is only available as a hatchback and the hatchback is only available as an si. Civic si comes with a high-output 2. 0-liter engine with i-vtec (for variable valve timing with intelligence) rated 160 horsepower. Si comes with a five-speed manual and is not available with an automatic.  prices range from $13,010 for a dx sedan to $15,160 for an lx coupe to $17,260 for an ex sedan to $19,000 for the si.  specialty civics are available as well. The hx coupe 13,710) comes with highly fuel-efficient lean-burn engine that gets up to 44 mpg and achieves an impressive 117 horsepower. Civic hx comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission, but a continuously variable automatic transmission, or cvt, is optional 1,000).  the civic hybrid represents the ultimate in environmental responsibility, using a small gas engine and a big electric motor to achieve up to 51 mpg. The hybrid 19,650) is equipped comparably to the ex sedan with a five-speed manual transmission. It's also available with a cvt automatic 20,650).  the civic gx sedan comes with natural gas-powered engine, which the government rates as a sulev, or super ultra low-emissions vehicle. It produces 100 horsepower.  options are limited. Side-impact air bags 250) are optional on all models and standard on the hybrid. Anti-lock brakes (abs) are standard on ex, si, and hybrid, optional on gx, and unavailable on other models. walkaroundthe honda civic sedan and coupe get subtle styling revisions for 2004 that give them a bolder look. Up front, the bumper, grille, engine hood, and headlights are all new. Most immediately noticeable is the new grille: the horizontal bar is gone, leaving just a blacked-out opening, framed by a character line that flows smoothly into the new hood. The opening under the grille has been re-shaped into a shark-like smile and now incorporates two downward-slashing struts. The headlights are still triangular, but stretch out more diagonally as they flow around the car's front corners. These changes are small, really, but subtly suggestive of the total re-style received last year by big brother accord. The civic's rear bumper is reshaped as well, a little crisper now than before.  unchanged is the civic's wedge-shaped profile, with a high, curt tail and low, abbreviated prow. The hood sits amazingly low. Relatively flat flanks are interrupted only by a single crease that dashes from the front wheel opening to the taillight; there are no body-side moldings. Windshield pillars arch into the rolled roof to meet the narrow c-pillars. Bold tail lamps dominate the blunt rear panel. Overall, both the sedan and the coupe remain conservative in appearance, but contemporary in design.  while they look like they're from the same family, the sedan and coupe differ in appearance. The coupe features a more aggressive windshield rake for a sportier look, and its tail lamps light up in a signature pattern. The sedan and coupe do share the same wheelbase and inner structure.  the appearance of the civic hybrid sedan is also subtly different, with a deeper spoiler under the front bumper, a small spoiler on the lip of the trunk lid, and unique, lightweight aluminum-alloy wheels.  the styling of the honda civic si hatchback seems to polarize people. Some think it's ugly; others love it and are quick to defend it. It's edgy and wedgy. The huge, flat windshield is steeply raked. The nose slopes radically downward, giving the car excellent aerodynamics and driver visibility. Its unique mesh grille is framed by huge triangular headlamps which, like those of the coupe and sedan, have been updated for 2004. The si is slab-sided, without any sculpture in the sheet metal. In the past, critics have suggested the wheels and tires do not look big enough for the bodywork, but honda has taken care of that for 2004 with new and better-proportioned 16-inch alloy wheels, and a new sill molding that suggests a slimmer profile. The si features a subtle roof spoiler and a dual tipped exhaust, and comes standard with a moonroof.  honda is known for its space-efficient design, and the civic packs its engine into a condensed engine bay, leaving more space for the interior. From the driver's seat, the civic is a comfortable car. From the back seat, it is less so. As in most hondas, the passenger compartment feels airy and open.  front-seat accommodations in the civic are superb. The sedan's front seats provide excellent support, thanks to a rigid structure with aggressive side bolsters. High seat cushions make entry and exit easy. Seat fabrics for the sedan were upgraded for the 2003 model year, and the quality of the new materials and trim is excellent. Visibility when driving or parking is excellent as the driver is surrounded by glass and looks over a very low hood line.  the interior of the hybrid is a bit more posh than even that of the ex sedan, with automatic climate control and a classy two-tone finish.  civic coupes have front seatbacks that stretch broad and deep with headrests that are open at the center like a doughnut. Front seatbelts attach to a side anchor bar that slides out of the way when someone climbs into the back seat.  the si hatchback's front seats are excellent, comfortable for long drives, and supportive for hard driving. They look and feel upscale. Alcantara-like trim adds richness to the side bolsters while red stitching accents the sporty fabric in the center. The seating position in the si is a bit strange with its big dash and sharply raked windshield, reminding us of the beetle.  rear-seat accommodations in all of the civic models are not the best. They are neither roomy nor comfortable by class standards. The rear bench is low and hard and does not support the thighs well. The toyota corolla is better on this score than the civic sedan. That said, the civic's flat floor lets rear-seat passengers spread their feet out, as there's no center tunnel to get in the way. Also, the outboard rear-seat head restraints are adjustable. But three in back is a crowd.  getting into the back seats of the two-door coupe isn't easy. The coupe's front seats cooperate for rear entry by gliding forward when the seatback tilts forward; a memory function then returns the seat to its original position. Bottom line: the civic is happiest with two people, but can haul additional passengers when called upon.  in all civics, the cockpit looks clean and efficient, with the instrument panel tucked beneath a barrel-shaped cowl. Round analog instruments include an oversized speedometer and tachometer in the center, flanked by smaller fuel and coolant gauges. In the sedan, the gauge graphics are the traditional white-on-black. In the coupe, the gauges show sil. 2012 honda cr-v review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The original, according to honda lore, was conceived to fulfill a need the company perceived for a comfortable runabout vehicle. The new version is improves on the previous generation though only slightly.  the honda cr-v comes packed with features such as bluetooth-enabled hands-free capability and streaming audio. The audio system comes with the ability to function as a control head for the internet radio site pandora. Not only is there a rearview camera, but it's a multi-angle unit that lets the driver choose between a top view and either a 130-degree or a 180-degree view. Automatic climate control, leather, heated front seats and a premium, 328-watt audio system with a subwoofer and xm satellite radio are available. Those figures split the difference between the segment's major players.  new on the 2012 cr-v is the eco-assist system, which will adjust transmissions shift points and gently retard acceleration to improve fuel economy. Eco-assist can be switched on and off by the driver. Honda has given the new cr-v some equally new drivetrain technology.  the 2012 cr-v gets hill-start assist, which applies the brakes when the car is stopped on an incline and releases them when the driver touches the accelerator. The clutch that sends power to the rear wheels on the awd models has a pre-load function that prevents any initial slippage when moving off from a stop. On freeways and surface streets, the ride and handling is solid without being overly firm and stable with little body lean in corners even at elevated speeds.  the 2012 cr-v's styling definitely falls more toward evolutionary than revolutionary. Most of the changes are minor, leaving the visuals in familiar territory. Headlight housings are sleeker. The roofline is an inch lower, and the side sculpting is more pronounced. The most remarkable difference is something only following drivers get to enjoy, as the liftgate and taillight assemblies have received a complete re-do and look remarkably more contemporary than those on the 2011 cr-v.  interior finish is honda-spec, with everything fitting snugly and pleasantly styled panels and trim pieces complimenting each other and showing a consistent theme. Controls are functional and for the most part intuitive. The screen on the optional navigation system is large and easy to read, though the system takes a long time to start up. Honda's decision to go with hard plastic surfaces everywhere but the door armrests is disappointing. The lower roofline means occupants lose an inch of headroom. The ex-l gets the only factory-installed options offered: a navigation system with turn-by-turn directions 28,545) and rear-seat dvd entertainment system 27,745). Each version is available with awd.  safety equipment comprises frontal airbags, front seat side-impact airbags, full coverage side curtain airbags, electronic stability control, abs, brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution, the federally mandated tire pressure monitoring system, rear seat anchors and tethers for child safety seats (latch), and multi-angle rearview camera. Optional all-wheel drive improves handling stability in slippery conditions. walkaroundchanges to the 2012 cr-v from the 2011 are evolutionary rather than revolutionary. All essential styling cues remain the same, with marginal adjustments to dimensions more than anything else.  front view is a little sleeker, rounder, with a more rakish shape to the headlights. The grille still sports three horizontal bars but wider spaced. The lower valance follows the same general outline, but it's more pronounced. Fog lights are pretty much the same place as on the 2011. The hood sculpting reverses from convex to concave. Fender blisters are bolder, giving the new cr-v a stronger stance.  side silhouette is almost identical, for the most part, save for a one inch lower roofline and a one inch shorter overall length. Sculpting across door lowers is less linear, more recessed with a slight coke bottle-ness. Wheel arches are fuller and more sharply defined. The rearmost side window pinches down to a tapered trailing edge, accenting the rear taillight and backup cluster that now wraps around into the rear quarter, breaking up somewhat the added sheetmetal in the c-pillar (the vertical body panel between the roof and lower body behind the rearmost side window). Full round door handles over oval recesses easily accommodate gloved hands.  the rearview of the 2012 cr-v looks complete, like the stylists knew where they wanted to go when they started and finished the job. The 2011, in contrast, showed a generic backend for smaller suvs, with a piece of glass sandwiched between the trademark cr-v vertical taillights and perched on top of an uninspired, conventionally stamped sheet of metal bracketed by basic backup lights and reflector elements. Drooping suspension and spindly drive mechanicals visible to following drivers may well have been sufficiently robust, but were somewhat short of reassuring visually. Proportions are right, with the backlight (rear window) fully integrated into the liftgate's lower half. A thin strip of brightwork tops the license plate recess that itself snugs into the upper half of a scalloped recess spanning the liftgate from one fender to the other. The vertical taillights each look to be a single piece and are inclusive of the backup and running lights. Tires properly positioned relative to the rear fenders match the front end's solid stance. The matte-finished lower valance masks all but the beefiest of the rear suspension underpinnings. interiorat first blush, the 2012 cr-v interior comes across as an elegant upgrade from the 2011's. The leather is a little short of luxurious but no less so than what trims seats in competitively priced comparatives suvs. Door armrests are padded. Door-mounted map pockets are molded to hold a beverage can or water bottle, but aren't especially deep, so no cups, please, unless topped with sipper caps.  that one inch lower roofline, though, as helpful as it might be for slipping through the air, also means occupants lose an inch of headroom from the 2011 model and fall behind the primary competitors, the toyota rav4, the hyundai tucson, the ford escape and the chevrolet equinox, by at least that much. Occupants hold their own in legroom, however, except for the equinox, which gives occupants around an inch more than the new cr-v.  the center console now extends forward all the way under the pod holding the shift lever, adding usable storage space in the form of a longer and deeper, covered storage bin, one large enough, the honda folk promise, to conceal a good sized handbag. Small trays are tucked into each side of the lower part of that extended console. The lower portion of the dash curves outward from the more subdued shift lever pod in graceful arcs toward the doors, which themselves repeat the arc cues.  the screen that se.

2001 honda cr-v review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Honda practicality, suv utility. introductionhonda's cr-v hauls cargo and kids, battles bad weather, and is easy to drive. Honda knows most sport-utilities rarely leave the pavement, and the cr-v was not intended to tackle tough terrain. The 4wd lx and ex models come standard with a five-speed manual gearbox. Automatic transmission adds $800 to the bottom line. To this, ex models add abs, remote keyless entry, dual power color-keyed mirrors, cd stereo and alloy wheels. Se gets a leather interior and steering wheel, a three-in-one am/fm/cassette/cd stereo, body colored side moldings, a hard cover for the spare tire, and chrome accents on the grille. walkaroundhonda's cr-v is similar in concept and execution to toyota's rav4. Unlike most suvs, these two mini sport-utilities are based on passenger car platforms. The cr-v is based on honda's subcompact civic line. The rav4 is based on the toyota camry. The cr-v is considerably bigger and roomier than the rav4, however. Second, it maximizes interior volume. interiorlike all hondas, the cr-v's interior is subdued, comfortable, thoughtfully designed, and nicely finished. A new feature for 2001 are child safety seat anchors for the rear seats. Big mirrors provide excellent rearward visibility.  the instrument panel is straightforward and logical, with secondary controls that are instantly recognizable, particularly to anyone who's ever driven a honda. An exception: power window switches, located on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel, are a bit awkward when underway.  the column-mounted shifter seems out of place in something that calls itself a sport-utility. On the other hand, putting the shift lever on the steering column allowed honda to create a convenient minivan-style pass-through between the front seats. The manual transmission shifter takes up a bit of that space.  a handy tray with integrated cupholders flips up between the front seats. Two more cupholders slide out below the climate controls on automatic transmission models. An abundance of storage pockets and bins are located throughout.  for all its engaging detail touches, though, the most endearing trait of the cr-v interior is its roominess. There's a lot of front headroom and legroom and plenty of rear legroom if the people in the front seats cooperate. There's a sizable cargo space behind the rear seats. The rear seatbacks flip and fold individually to expand cargo space. The cr-v even comes with a picnic table that stows in the rear floor. Pop it out, flip down the legs and it's party time.  like the rav4, the cr-v carries its spare tire on a rack mounted on the tailgate. Unlike the rav4, and a lot of other external mounts, the cr-v's is low enough so that it doesn't interfere with vision to the rear. The tailgate on the honda cr-v is a two-piece affair. The glass upper portion lifts up, while the lower portion swings open like a door. The operator must first unlock the window portion, flip it up, and then swing the door open. There is a rear window release inside; it's on the downside of the dashboard, to the left of the driver's left knee. This releases the window, which must be opened before the door. driving impressiongood ride quality is a cr-v strong suit. It's supple enough to absorb the nasty little irregularities of rough pavement without excessive compromise in handling response.  part of that is due to its relatively long wheelbase. At 103. 2 inches, the cr-v wheelbase is long for its overall size. That's typical of current honda designs, and it's one of the reasons for honda's success with ride quality.  the cr-v isn't quite as quick on its feet as the rav4, but it is thoroughly competent. The torque peak doesn't come until 4500 rpm. As a result, standing-start getaway is sluggish. The 5-speed improves performance in this area considerably. Once it builds up a head of steam, though, the cr-v is quicker than a rav4. That's a little more power than the rav4's 2. 0-liter engine, but the cr-v is a little heavier, so power-to-weight ratios are similar.  cr-v's engine is relatively quiet, less noisy than the rav4, at most operating speeds. But both vehicles come with a fair amount of wind noise.  the cr-v's all-wheel-drive system primarily drives the front wheels. When system sensors detect loss of traction to the front wheels, it feeds torque to the rear wheels until proper grip is restored. The cr-v does not offer a locking center differential, low-range set of gears, a limited-slip rear differential, or traction control. This limits the cr-v's capability in areas with steep climbs, limited traction, or deep sand. So be careful about driving the cr-v on the beach.  overall, the cr-v drives like a compact station wagon, which is essentially what it is. There is nothing remotely truck-like about its behavior. Steering is precise and feeds plenty of road feel back to the driver. Front brakes are discs, but the rear uses drum brakes. summarythe honda cr-v is an excellent piece of work. It's much roomier than the rav4. Even with more than 8 inches of ground clearance, the cr-v is not a good choice for off-road use. But it is loaded with nifty features and, for the kind of duties that most sport-utilities perform most of the time, its all-around practicality and comfort deserve high marks. model lineup2wd lx 18,750); 4wd lx 19,150); 4wd ex 20,750); 4wd se 22,800). assembled injapan. options as tested4-speed automatic 800). model testedlx 4wd 19,150). 2013 honda civic review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Restyled, refined, retuned suspension, back on track. introductionthe honda civic began its ninth generation with the 2012 model, which was disappointing on account of cost-cutting. The 2013 civic sedan is changed a bit, becoming what the 2012 should have been, with a pretty exterior, snazzy interior, satisfying suspension, and a cabin full of tricks from bluetooth to pandora.  the nose, hood, black honeycomb grille and angled headlamps are pleasing to the eye, with a humped hood and raked windshield that draw attention. The side sills are sculpted smartly, and with body-colored mirrors and door handles, the civic looks classy, especially with the optional alloy wheels. The rear fenders flow nicely into a horizontal v over each side of the rear bumper.  in the cabin there's a ton of standard content, such as bluetooth phone and bluetooth audio, pandora internet radio interface and mp3, usb, ipod and sms text message capability. There's a nice color multi-information display (i-mid) with rearview camera.  the fabric upholstery is excellent, with seats that are well shaped, nicely bolstered and widely adjustable. The standard 60/40 split-folding rear seatback expands cargo capacity. We put a six-footer in the rear seat, and he didn't complain about legroom or headroom.  interior refinements include a new headliner and soft-touch materials on the instrument panel, center console, and door panels. Silver accents here and there, along with faux stitching on the dashboard and door panels, add a touch of upscale. Black carpeting is standard. The colorful instrument backlighting is soothing.  significantly, nvh (noise, vibration and harshness) has been improved over the 2012. More sound deadening material has been added to the firewall, wheel wells, flooring and trunk, while the windshield and front windows are thicker, all in the successful pursuit of silence. On the inside, the civic neither feels nor sounds like a mere $20,000 car.  we found the i-vtec 140-horsepower engine with its 128 foot-pounds of torque to be adequate. Acceleration performance is average but feels stronger because the engine is smooth and cabin quiet. The 5-speed automatic transmission is programmed to be invisible, while the ride is solid and comfortable. There's an econ mode that remaps the engine and transmission for fuel mileage over power. We easily ran 75 mph in econ and impressively got 32. 1 miles per gallon.  the suspension has been reworked for 2013 with thicker anti-roll bars front and rear, quicker steering, and firmer bushings. The front subframe body structure is stiffer. We've had it on the track and its performance is marvelous.  there are also three high-mileage versions of the civic. The civic hf uses a specially tuned version of the same 1. 8-liter engine to achieve an epa-rated 29/41 mpg city/highway, compared to 28/39 mpg for the civic lx and ex. It gets 27/38 mpg on the cheaper fuel. Fuel economy is rated at 44/44 mpg. The bare bones and most affordable model, dx, has been discontinued: dee-xed.  new safety technologies built into the 2013 civic include the application of the next-gen advanced compatibility engineering ii (ace ii) body structure, which includes additional front end structures designed to help increase occupant protection by dispersing crash energy in narrow overlap frontal crashes. Also new are smartvent side airbags, side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor and the availability of forward collision warning (fcw) and lane departure warning (ldw) systems, which make their compact-class debut in the 2013 civic hybrid. lineupthe 2013 honda civic comes in six models. The sporty civic si uses a high-revving 2. 4-liter and 6-speed gearbox, coupe or sedan. Civic hf features a hybrid gas-electric powertrain tuned for high gas mileage. Civic gx runs on natural gas.  civic lx sedan 18,165) and lx coupe 17,965) come standard with 5-speed manual transmission, fabric upholstery, air conditioning with air-filtration system, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power everything, bluetooth, color multi-information display with rearview camera, usb/ipod connection, pandora interface, sms text feature, and steering wheel audio controls. The 5-speed automatic is available for the civic lx sedan 18,965) and lx coupe 18,765).  civic ex sedan 20,815) comes standard with the 5-speed automatic. All civic ex models include a six-speaker audio system, 60/40 split rear seat, and power moonroof. Opting for the civic ex sedan navi 23,765) adds navigation and xm radio.  civic ex-l 22,265) coupe or sedan upgrades with leather upholstery and heated front seats. Civic ex-l navi 23,765) include navigation and xm.  civic hf sedan 19,765) is designed for maximum fuel efficiency with an economy tuned engine and 5-speed automatic.  civic gx sedan 24,465) burns natural gas.  civic hybrid 24,360) uses a gas-electric powertrain with cvt and is available with leather 25,560), navi 25,860), or both 27,060).  civic si sedan 22,715) and coupe 22,515) feature a high-performance 2. 4-liter engine and 6-speed manual. The 2013 civic actually catches some eyes with its changes. We got comments about the car's good looks, driving an ex for one week.  honda had made a decision to go with the austerity times on the redesigned 2012 sedan, which sported new fascias and character lines, but nothing bold. (the previous-generation civic was the bold one, and its then-radical aerodynamics flow through to the 2013 model.) by playing it close to the vest, the class-leading civic sedan was upstaged in all directions; witness the skyactiv mazda3, stylish ford focus, and the hyundai elantra, a swoopy good deal. So for 2013 honda responds with a rapid comeback, starting with the body makeover of the sedan. (meanwhile, the coupe, with its own identity, doesn't get changed because there was no demand to change it.)  the nose and tail are new, up to the hood and trunk lid. The black honeycomb mesh grill looks serious, if disguised, undermined by a thin chrome smile and half-hidden behind the mundane (but universally recognizable) honda emblem. We could do without the gratuitous horizontal chrome strip within the fascia.  the a-pillars have been thinned, but the steep rake of the windshield is untouched. The side sills are sculpted smartly; with body-colored mirrors and door handles, the civic looks classy. But not the lx with its awful plastic wheelcovers. Honda designers did good on bumpers. At the tail above the bumper, it's restyled but still ordinary, even with big new two-piece taillamps. We could do without the gratuitous horizontal chrome strip across the trunk. But that's a generic statement; we could say that about every car.  some less noticeable parts of the body have also been changed, especially the front floor and upper wheel housing. Fifty-percent of the body is high-strength steel, providing a rigid structure and light weight. interiorin the cabin there's much new content to bring the 2013 civic upscale to match its competitors. However, there's some sleight of hand, because much of what's now standard in all models got there by discontinuing the low-cost bare-bones dx. There's a new and classy all-black interior color. The seats are well shaped, nicely bolstered and widely adjustable. The most useful information is repeated at the top of the dash, allowing the driver to scan without taking his or her eyes much off the road. Forward sightlines, even over that cool humped hood, are excellent. We appreciated the thinner windshield pillars, and small window set in the angle where the pillar intersects the car's hood. A lot of new cars have thick a-pillars that can obstruct the driver's view of pedestrians and other vehicles, but not here.  the i-mid, or intelligent multi-information display, uses a toggle on the leather-wrapped steering wheel that enables the driver to scroll through a variety of vehicle info. 2007 honda accord review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The accord family sedan combines high technology and high quality with everyday economy of operation and keen attention to detail. It comes in a sedan or coupe and has available leather or cloth upholstery. To control this power, there are the available five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmissions. Standard safety features include side-impact and curtain airbags, in addition to the required dual front airbags, and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution. The honda accord is a carryover from 2006. Only small trim changes occur for 2007. Anti-lock Brakes

This is a great little suv! It comes equipped with the 2. 0 i4 engine and an automatic transmission, both run great and the transmission shifts great! It has 236k miles but is in great shape as it was meticulously maintained by it's owner who was a mechanic. This is a great running vehicle and would make a great get-around vehicle for anyone looking to transport things or people! 2014 honda accord review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Hybrid versions join newly redesigned lineup. introductionthe honda accord is among the best of a crop of superb midsize cars. It's a smooth, enjoyable engine and, on accord sedans, gets an epa-estimated 27/36 mpg city/highway with the cvt continuously variable transmission or 24/34 mpg with the 6-speed manual gearbox. The accord sport sedan and accord coupe models get about a mile per gallon less in fuel economy.  a 3. 5-liter v6 engine is available that delivers 278 horsepower and an epa-rated 21/34 mpg city/highway with the 6-speed automatic transmission; v6-powered accord coupes rate 21/32 mpg with the automatic. Both recharge themselves when driving with the gas-powered engine.  the accord hybrid seamlessly blends electric-only drive, gas-engine drive, and a combination of the two. The result is excellent fuel economy and smooth cruising. Accord hybrid is epa-rated at 50/45 mpg city/highway; we got better than 50 mpg while driving normally. The combined gas-electric range is 570 miles. Under normal driving, the accord plug-in hybrid is epa-rated at 47/46 mpg city/highway. Using electric power, it's rated by the federal government at 115 mpge, whatever that means. There are tax credits and rebates available from the federal government and some state governments, california among them. Sedans have more backseat room than do the coupes. It isn't about being the fastest in a straight line or flattest around the corners but rather being well-rounded and doing everything better than average. Overall, it feels smooth and refined.  the accord sedan and coupe look good, their styling neither as dramatic as some nor as bland as others.  the midsize segment is a large one with many viable competitors. Among them: toyota camry, ford fusion, chevrolet malibu, nissan altima, mazda6, hyundai sonata, kia optima, volkswagen passat. Drivers who want more space, performance or features might also look to a nissan maxima or toyota avalon. Hyundai genesis coupe is an option. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard on accord lx and ex; a cvt continuously variable transmission 800) is available for lx, sport, and ex models and comes standard on ex-l. A 278-hp 3. 5-liter v6 is available only with higher trim levels and comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Accord coupe lx-s, ex, and ex-l use the 2. 4-liter with 6-speed manual or cvt. Accord sport sedan also upgrades to 18-inch alloy wheels, dual exhaust outlets (boosting power to 189 hp), fog lights, rear spoiler, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 10-way power driver seat and shift paddles for the cvt.  accord ex sedan 24,880) upgrades with moonroof, lanewatch, power driver seat, keyless entry/pushbutton start, heated side mirrors with signal repeaters and 17-inch alloy wheels. Accord ex sedan is available with the 6-speed manual or the cvt 25,680). Accord ex coupe is equipped similarly but adds touch-screen audio and fog lights to lx-s coupe. Navigation is available and offered as a separate model 30,045). Accord ex-l coupe 28,345) adds lanewatch plus most ex-l sedan upgrades and comes with the cvt; navigation is available 30,120)  accord ex-l v-6 sedan 30,345) uses the 278-hp v6 engine and 6-speed automatic and adds led daytime running lights, power passenger seat, homelink, and dual exhaust. Navigation is available 32,120). Lanewatch, forward collision warning and lane departure warning are optional. walkaroundthe honda accord sedans and coupes look fresh, having been completely redesigned for the 2013 model year. This ninth-generation accord blends curves, creases and angles, now in a more cohesive shape; it's incrementally lower, wider and three inches shorter than pre-2013 models. Where the window line on many cars extends from the top of the hood to the top of the trunk, the accord's runs more from the headlight cut-line to the top of the tail lights. This yields not only a credible sedan profile but also adds to the airy cabin spaciousness and proper rear-seat headroom. From overhead the center section is mildly barrel-shaped, the widest point where front and rear doors meet appearing pointed relative the smooth lines of the roof above it.  there's a mild forward tilt to the profile, enhanced by the scalloped front door panels and raked headlight housings. Viewed from behind, the front wheel opening is inset above the sill and shows some tire, an image we associate more with sports cars than family sedans.  rear doors on accord sedans look like long-wheelbase versions of some sedans, with an almost flat section at the top and opening that runs straight from the door sill to the window kink popularized by bmw and hofmeister half a century ago.  the coupe is nicely proportioned and, like the sedan, uses a higher than average roofline over the back seat for better-than-normal rear-seat room. Unlike the sedan the tail lights do not extend into the trunk lid, and the chrome lower molding is much wider. Also unlike the sedan, the rear reflectors on the coupe are vertically oriented and t.
