2009 ford f-150 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Redesigned for 2009. introductionpickups are the automotive landscape for bragging rights, best-in-class superlatives, and sales volume. All are capable of work or play, even those models with luxurious interiors.  three v8 engines of two sizes are offered, including a flex-fuel unit that will run on e85 (ethanol). Yet even the least-expensive f-150 isn't boring; it leaves room for customization, does the work required and keeps overhead down.  2009 marks the introduction of the platinum model, a further step up in fancy from the lariat or king ranch choices and bringing the total variety count to seven. Although that makes the total number of builds and choices mind-boggling, believe it or not it has been simplified.  with one of the deepest beds in the half-ton pickup segment, the f-150 has generous cargo volume out back and a maximum payload rating of 3,030 pounds. Supercab trucks add higher fx4 and lariat trim levels, and a 5. 6-foot short-bed option on all but xl models. The flareside bed can not be combined with xl or lariat supercabs. A long-bed supercab is available only with the heavy-duty 5. 4-liter package. Most higher-line trucks come with a three-valve-per-cylinder version of the 4. 6-liter rated at 292 hp and a six-speed automatic transmission that gets slightly better mileage by one-half to one mpg. This package is used for the high-mileage sfe model, a 2wd rated at 15/21.  a 5. 4-liter flex-fuel v8 is the largest offered and comes with the six-speed automatic. It is rated at 310 hp and 365 lb-ft on gasoline (epa 14/20 mpg) and 320 hp and 390 lb-ft on e85 with mileage dropped to 10/14 mpg. The base f-150 xl 21,095) is a standard bed, regular cab two-wheel drive. It comes with 17-inch steel wheels, black bumper/grille/mirrors, and vinyl upholstery and floor covering. Options are primarily mechanical or minor convenience upgrades.  stx (from $23,895) models add body-color bumpers over a black grille, cd player, and cloth seats with driver lumbar, more equipment is available, including 18-inch wheels, sirius radio, sync, cruise control, fog lamps and power mirrors.  the top-selling model has traditionally been the xlt (from $25,065) which adds chrome for bumpers and trim, power mirrors, remote keyless entry, automatic headlamps, carpeting, cruise control, power windows and locks, better cloth upholstery and on longer cabs the 3-valve 4. 6-liter v8 and six-speed automatic transmission. All manner of options are available on the xlt, including three sizes of wheels, tailgate step, cargo management and towing equipment.  for off-road enthusiasts the fx4 (from $33,630) returns to a black grille with body-colored bumpers, trim and mirrors. Chrome trim and bumpers highlight monotone paint, and the lariat adds heated mirrors with signal repeaters and auto-dimming on the driver's and inside, dual-zone climate control, heated power leather seats with driver memory, leather wheel with redundant audio controls, tow package, sync, trip computer, and power adjustable pedals. Options include 20-inch wheels, heated/cooled front seats, sony sound and navigation, trailer brake controller, rear camera and park sensors, and moonroof.  the king ranch (from $38,840) is like a lariat with a different attitude. It adds two-tone paint and kr badges, unique wheels, mesh chrome grille, chaparral leather heated/cooled power captains chairs with driver memory, running boards, and power folding, heated, signal outside mirrors with chrome caps. Options are essentially limited to a limited-slip differential, alternative axle ratios, 20-inch wheels, sony sound and navigation systems, moonroof, chrome tube running boards and remote start.  at the top of the 2009 range is the platinum supercrew 40,440-$43,885). This gets a unique satin chrome front grille and the only one not styled as three sections, body-color bumpers and wheel lip moldings, 20-inch wheels, power-deploy/retract running boards, satin chrome tailgate trim, tuxedo-stitched leather power captains chairs, wood grain and brushed aluminum trim, rain-sensing wipers, power fold/heated mirrors, and unique console. It will start with the 310-hp 5. 4-liter v8 and later get a high-performance engine option, but it is the long-travel high-performance suspension, wheels and tires that set it apart. The only factory pickups that are remotely near the high-speed off-road ability of the raptor are dodge's power wagon and the tundra rock warrior.  the option list has been simplified this year but still resembles tax code to the uninitiated; there are, for example, three codes for a sliding rear window and five for trailer towing mirrors. Most options are dependent on the model and other options, some standard on more expensive models, and listed below by price range. A rear-seat dvd entertainment system is conspicuous by its absence.  safety features that come standard include antilock brakes, stability control (advancetrac rsc) with trailer sway control, frontal airbags, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags.

2006 ford f-150 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. It's also stylish, among the best-looking in a group of handsome full-size pickups for the 2006 model year.  properly equipped, an f-150 can tow 9,900 pounds or haul more than 3,000 pounds in the bed. The f-150 is comfortable as well, with a quiet and refined ride and comfortable interiors that show attention to detail. Handling is excellent for a pickup.  the f-150 earned a five-star safety rating from the government (nhtsa) in frontal crash testing and was named a 'best pick' in offset-crash rating from the insurance institute for highway safety. F-150 comes equipped with dual frontal airbags designed to deploy according to the severity of the crash and who or what is occupying the seat. Ford has not significantly changed the f-150 since then except to expand the lineup every year with new trim levels, variations, and specialty models.  for 2006, supercrew (crew cab) models will be available with a longer, 6. 5-foot bed; as well as the standard 5. 5-foot short bed. A limited-production harley-davidson edition, previously offered on super duty models, is now available as an f-150 supercab (extended cab). The xl, stx, xlt, fx4, lariat, and king ranch each boast their own interior style and features. Engines, suspensions and cab configurations are designed to meet specific needs. Wheelbases as long as 163. 0 inches (e. G., a supercab with the 8-foot long bed) are available.  three engines are offered: a 4. 2-liter v6, a 4. 6-liter v8, and a 5. 4-liter v8. In the models most consumers will buy, the 4. 6-liter v8 is standard. Xl is readily identifiable by its black grille and fascia, painted silver bumpers and 17-inch steel wheels. Regular cab and supercab (extended cab) styles are available, and the latter comes with air conditioning (an $850 option on regular cabs). An f-150 xl regular cab 2wd short wheelbase model with a 4. 6-liter v8 and automatic retails for $20,635, or $18,790 with a v6 and manual gearbox; a supercab long-wheelbase 4wd with a v8 and automatic retails for $27,275. Chrome bumpers and cloth seats are optional.  stx is sportier than the xl, with body-color bumpers and body-color trim for the black grille, and 17-inch cast aluminum wheels. Cloth seats, a cd player, and air conditioning come standard. Stx comes in styleside and flareside body styles, in regular cab or supercab, with either a 6. 5-foot or a 5. 5-foot cargo box. An audiophile sound system with subwoofer and six-disc cd changer is optional. An stx 2wd flareside retails for $23,030.  xlt is the most popular model, nicer and better-equipped than xl. It comes with chrome bumpers and a honeycomb grille that sets it apart from the other models. Carpeting is standard, as is a premium cloth upholstery on the standard bench seats or optional captain's chairs. The xlt instrument panel gets more flash than either the xl or stx dash; and power windows, mirrors and locks with remote keyless entry are standard. The xlt features an overhead rail console system that the owner can tailor to his or her needs. Fog lamps come standard on 4wd xlts. An xlt supercrew 4wd 5. 4-liter v8 automatic retails for $34,055.  fx4 is a special off-road model. The interior features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a floor shifter, and chrome accents; while the exterior is distinguished by a unique grille, 18-inch cast aluminum wheels, and body-color or dark shadow gray bumpers, depending on paint choice. Fx4 is available in regular cab, supercab, and supercrew body styles, but the long (8-foot) bed is not available. The standard engine is the 5. 4-liter v8. The fx4 has its own instrument package with carbon mesh accents on the metallic dashboard. Captain's chairs in cloth or leather are optional. An f-150 fx4 supercrew 4wd retails for $35,495.  lariat is the luxury model, distinguished visually by a unique grille design (chrome housing around arizona beige insert) and bright-finish 18-inch aluminum wheels. Bumpers are chrome or arizona beige. Lariat features black-on-cream instruments, lots of wood trim and brushed metal, a multi-function steering wheel, and a shiny floor shifter mounted in a floor console. A power-adjustable and leather-trimmed 40/20/40 split bench seat with seat memory is standard, along with power-adjustab. walkaroundin the late 1990s, f-150 went aerodynamically curvy, and although it remained number one in sales, not everyone liked the look. So for 2004, ford returned the f-150 to its square-shouldered roots, with a more utilitarian look that continues essentially unchanged for 2006.  it's a functional look, but in its own way it's at least as stylish as the much-heralded dodge ram. In fact, the f-150 has a unique image, no small feat when designing within the hard parameters imposed by a pickup. It's at once crisp, bold, and sturdy. In short, we think the f-150 is a great-looking truck.  the f-150 shares styling cues with ford's handsome super duty pickups, including the sharp downward drop in the forward part of the door windows, allowing a clear view of the massive outside mirrors. A high beltline gives the truck visual strength and makes occupants feel more secure.  the whole nose is square in concept, with a large, bold, big-rig grille opening. Yet the front fascia wraps around to the fenders for a precise, sophisticated appearance. The bodyside and cargo box sheet metal is chiseled, though it looks slab-sided at the same time, a theme that carries through to the tailgate. F-150 is both upscale and utilitarian, a look that's very appealing.  the different trim levels are quite distinctive. Just one example: xlt and lariat have a honeycomb grille (black on xlt, arizona beige on lariat), while xl, stx, fx4, and king ranch wear a bar-style grille.  practical considerations are a big part of the design, and some of this can be easily seen. Every bed, no matter which length or style, is more than 22 inches deep, for a generous margin when hauling larger cargoes. The basic xl is surprisingly nice. At the other end of the spectrum is the king ranch, which evokes images of texas and cowboys. We love the king ranch, but it's not for everyone.  we found the xlt's front bench seats attractive, but they are flat and lack support. The front bench is split three ways. The center section flips down to reveal a center console with storage and cup holders. They also looked great, trimmed in black leather with light gray stitching. Adjusting the power seats may be a little awkward for drivers with big arms, however, because the clearance between the door armrest and the seat is a little tight. Rake adjustment on the power driver's seat is manual, and raking it forward can be a bit awkward. The center console between the captain's chairs is deep, holds a lot of stuff, and features a pair of big, solid cup holders. The floor shifter for the automatic transmission works very well.  radio and hvac (heater) controls are plain but straightforward and easy to operate. Lariat comes with every known. 2005 ford f-150 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New models expand superb new lineup. introductionford f-150 has been the best-selling full-size pickup for 27 consecutive years, and it's the most important, most profitable vehicle ford makes. Last year ford threw away the old formula and created a new f-150 from the ground up. At the top is a new king ranch model lavishly outfitted in castano leather. At the bottom is a new v6 model available with an automatic or manual transmission. An inexpensive work truck model has been added as well. In between is the industry's widest variety of body configurations: three cab styles, three bed lengths, two bed styles, and a choice of v8 engines. The f-150 comes equipped with dual frontal airbags designed to deploy according to the severity of the crash and who or what is occupying the seat. The xl, stx, xlt, fx4, lariat, and king ranch each boast their own interior style and features. Engines, suspensions and cab configurations are designed to meet specific needs. Xl is readily identifiable by its black grille and fascia and 17-inch steel wheels, though it comes with chrome bumpers. Xl is available in regular cab or supercab (extended cab) styles. An f-150 xl 4. 2-liter v8 regular cab 2wd automatic short wheelbase retails for $21,455, but a v6 manual will lower that price to $19,610; a long-wheelbase 4x4 v8 automatic supercab is priced at $29,690. (manufacturer's suggested retail prices are subject to change and do not include the destination charge of $795.)  stx is sportier than the xl, with a body-colored grille-surround for the black bar grille, and 17-inch cast aluminum wheels. Stx comes in styleside (flat) and flareside (fendered) body styles, in regular cab or supercab, with either a 6. 5-foot or a 5. 5-foot cargo box. An audiophile sound system with subwoofer and six-disc cd changer is optional. Stx starts at $22,285.  xlt is the most popular model, nicer and better-equipped than xl though not as luxurious as lariat. It comes with a honeycomb grille that sets it apart from the other models. Xlt comes in regular cab, supercab or supercrew, with a choice of 5. 5-, 6. 5-, or 8-foot bed lengths, and styleside or flareside body styles. A premium cloth interior is standard on the bench seats or optional captain's chairs. The xlt instrument panel gets more flash than either the xl or stx dash. Supercab, as well as supercrew versions, get power windows for the rear doors. The xlt also features an overhead rail console system that the owner can tailor to his or her needs. Fog lamps come standard on 4x4 xlts. An xlt supercrew 4x4 5. 4-liter v8 automatic retails for $35,275.  fx4 is a special off-road model. The interior features chrome trim and markings, and a floor shifter. Fx4 is available in regular cab, supercab, and supercrew body styles, with either 5. 5-foot styleside or 6. 5-foot flareside or styleside bed designs (no 8-foot bed). The standard engine is the 5. 4-liter v8. The fx4 has its own instrument package as do the rest of the models, with carbon mesh accents on the metallic dashboard. Captain's chairs in cloth or leather are optional, and 18-inch cast aluminum wheels are standard. An f-150 fx4 supercrew retails for $34,605.  lariat is the luxury model. It has its own grille design and comes standard with 18-inch wheels. Lariat features black-on-cream instruments, lots of wood trim and brushed metal, a multi-function steering wheel, and a shiny floor shifter mounted in a floor console. A power 40/20/40 split bench seat with seat memory is standard, along with power-adjustable floor pedals, an in-dash message center, and climate control. Heated power leather captain's chairs are optional. Lariat 2wd models are available in all three body styles, but 4x4 versions are only available with styleside fenders. An f-150 lariat supercrew 4x4 starts at $35,875.  king ranch features rich castano leather designed to capture the spirit of the historic texas cattle ranch. It comes as a supercrew distinguished by with a color-coordinated grille, arizona beige running boards, and other special trim. Inside are power-adjustable and heated captain's chairs in front, a 60/40 split bench seat in back, and unique interior tri. walkaroundredesigned for 2004, the ford f-150 looks much more manly than the previous-generation models. Its tall shoulders, bold front end and crisp lines give it a more utilitarian look that leaves no doubt that this is a serious truck. It's at least as stylish as the much-heralded dodge ram, but is totally different. In fact, the f-150 has a unique look, no small feat when designing within the hard parameters imposed by a pickup. In short, we think the new f-150 is a great-looking truck.  the f-150 has picked up styling cues from the handsome super duty pickups, including the sharp cut in the forward part of the door, allowing a clear view of the massive outside mirrors. A high beltline gives the truck visual strength and makes occupants feel more secure. The roofline is somewhat reminiscent of chopped-top custom street trucks.  the whole nose is shaped more squarely than the previous generation, which featured more feminine, more car-like curves. The grilles are larger and bolder. The front fascia wraps around to the fenders for a precise, sophisticated appearance. The bodyside and cargo box sheet metal is chiseled, though it looks more slab-sided at the same time, a theme that carries through the tailgate, giving the f-150 an upscale, utilitarian look that's very appealing.  the different trim levels are quite distinctive. Just one example: xlt and lariat have a honeycomb grille (black on xlt, brushed-nickel on lariat), while xl, stx, fx4, and king ranch use a bar-style grille.  practical considerations are a big part of the design, and some of this can be easily seen. Every bed, no matter which length or style, is two inches taller than previous-generation's beds to give more margin when hauling larger cargoes. The supercab (extended cab) doors are larger than the vestigial doors on the standard cab. At the other end of the spectrum is the king ranch, which evokes images of montana and cowboys. Lariat comes with every known amenity.  we found the xlt's front bench seats attractive, but they were flat and lacked support. The front bench is split three ways. They also looked great, trimmed in black leather with light gray stitching. Adjusting the power seats may be a little awkward for drivers with big arms because the clearance between the door armrest and the seat is a little tight; rake adjustment on the power driver's seat is manual, and raking it forward can be a bit awkward. The center console between the captain's chairs is deep and holds a lot of stuff and features a pair of big, solid cup holders. The floor shifter for the automatic works very well.  the radio and hvac controls are plain but straightforward and easy to operate. Giant mirrors afford an excellent view rearward. The ford escape is a mid-size sport-utility vehicle with credentials that make it equally suited to urban commutes or weekend off-road outings. 2002 ford f-250 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. A hard-working truck with civilized manners. introductionwhen the going gets tough, the tough buy a super duty.  this is no truck for dilettantes or poseurs. Ford's super duty pickups look like serious big rigs, and they are. They are heavy-hauling, heavy-towing machines. And they outsell their dodge and chevrolet analogs combined.  these are specialized trucks as well, trucks with long lists of options to do special jobs. Any one of them can pull everything from a horse trailer to an airstream camper. They are all the truck most consumers will ever need. Ford also builds even bigger f-450, 550, 650, and 750 commercial-grade trucks.  f-250 and f-350 are available in regular-cab, extended-cab (supercab) and crew cab configurations. New for 2002 is a six-speed manual transmission, standard with the 5. 4-liter and 6. 8-liter engines.  also new for 2002 is long list of interior upgrades, to make these trucks more comfortable and user-friendly than before. lineupmost domestic-branded pickups are offered in more configurations than any normal human can count.  all ford f-250 models come with single rear wheels. F-350 models are available with single rear wheels (srw) or dual rear wheels (drw). The latter, often called 'duallies,' are good for towing as they offer higher tongue-weight ratings.  ford super duty f-250 competes with the other heavyweights from detroit: dodge ram 2500, chevrolet silverado 2500 and gmc sierra 2500. F-350 dual rear wheel models compete with the 3500-series models from gm and dodge.  many trucks these days are used for work and personal duty. Three trim levels are offered: standard xl, mid-level xlt, and luxurious lariat.  wheelbase lengths include 137 inches (regular cab), 142 inches (supercab short-bed), 158 inches (supercab long-bed), 156 inches (crew cab short-bed) and 172 inches (crew cab long-bed). walkaroundsome folks have compared the exterior styling of the f-250 to the big-rig look of the dodge ram. Ford's super duty trucks used to share their cabs with the f-150 light-duty models, but the current line of super duty pickups broke from that tradition. While the f-150s have rounded edges, the super duty trucks look bluff-nosed and serious. Their menacing, square-jawed front ends, brawny raised hoods and aggressive headlamps are a big tip-off that there are significant differences between a garden-variety f-150 and a super duty. We think they are the best-looking heavy duty pickups available.  but there's more here to separate the super duty trucks than just looks. It also makes it easier to climb in, a welcome feature when juggling tools, briefcases, or even toddlers. The interior features a fold-down armrest, a floor console that can accommodate a laptop, and a removable hanging bin for storage that can attach to the dash. Controls are big, easy to reach and manipulate. The only exception is the instrument panel dimmer, which is a bit hard to reach. Two large cupholders are provided. The standard cigar lighter is augmented with a second auxiliary power outlet.  a new instrument cluster for 2002 includes a transmission temperature gauge when an automatic transmission is ordered.  also for 2002, ford has added even more car-like luxury features, including six-way power for the passenger's seat on lariat crew cab models. In fact, xlt and lariat now feature entirely new seats with increased bolster height and shoulder width. An improved lumbar support provides a greater range of adjustment. Lariat now features a sunglasses bin and garage-door opener in its overhead console. Map pockets with integrated cup holders are now standard on supercab rear doors, and driver's-side grab handles are standard on all trim levels. Rear-passenger grab handles are now found in all crew cabs.  passenger-side airbags offer a deactivation switch on regular cab and supercab models. Adjustable seatbelt anchors increase safety and comfort. driving impressionthe 5. 4-liter v8 is rated 260 horsepower and 350 foot-pounds of torque. The 6. 8-liter v10 is rated 310 horsepower and 425 foot-pounds of torque. Both engines employ overhead cams for valve control. Steering is precise. Handling by big truck standards is crisp. Body roll is noticeably limited in the corners. And the ride quality is reasonably good, thanks to a compliant suspension. The rear seat cushion folds up and forward and the seatback folds down to create a flat, steel loading surface, a perfect place to put tools and other heavy items that need to stay secure and out of the elements. They hinge on the rear pillars of the cab and swing out a full 90 degrees from the doorsill. This design eases the loading of gear and passengers and contributes to occupant safety with the combination of vertical beams and a cross brace where the front and rear doors meet. summaryford's super duty trucks are enormously popular among people who tow horses, boats, race cars, and collectibles. They are comfortable and secure feeling.  we love the super duty styling. And it becomes a thing of real beauty when its capabilities are considered. model lineupf-250: 4x2 regular cab 137-in. The ford escape is a mid-size sport-utility vehicle with credentials that make it equally suited to urban commutes or weekend off-road outings. The xlt and limited trims feature the same 2. 5-liter engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. A 240-hp 3. 0-liter e85 capable v6 is an available upgrade on xlt and limited models. Standard safety features include front airbags, front seat mounted side airbags and side-curtain airbags for front and rear passengers. For 2012, the escape receives one new exterior color.

2004 ford f-250 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. America's most popular heavy hauler. introductionthe 2004 ford super duty pickups look like serious big rigs, and they are. The f-250 and f-350 are willing and able to pull their weight. The f-350, with its optional dual rear wheels, competes against the 3500-series models from gm and dodge.  the super duty pickups feature first-class powertrains. The standard 5. 4-liter v8 gas engine was revised for 2003 for quieter and more refined operation. For 2004, the 6. 0-liter turbo-diesel v8 has been recalibrated for lower emissions. A 6. 8-liter gasoline v10 is also available.  the super duty trucks are not the latest in truck design and don't offer the level of chassis sophistication of their counterparts from gm and dodge. So they don't ride or handle as well.  however, ford continues to update its super duty pickups to make them more family-friendly. The base interior was recently upgraded and a power sliding moonroof is available for crew cabs. Several other new interior features further enhance comfort and convenience for 2004. Ford sells more pickups in the over-8500-pound gvwr range than gm or dodge. lineuplike most domestic pickups, the ford super duty is offered in more configurations than any normal human can count. And nearly 60 iterations are available in the f-350 (or 1-ton size). Any one of them can pull heavy loads. They offer more truck most consumers will ever need. (and when they aren't enough, ford builds bigger f-450, f-550, f-650, and f-750 trucks for the commercial market.)  f-250 and f-350 are available in regular-cab, extended-cab (supercab) and crew cab configurations. Wheelbase lengths include 137 inches (regular cab), 142 inches (supercab short-bed), 158 inches (supercab long-bed), 156 inches (crew cab short-bed), and 172 inches (crew cab long-bed).  all f-250 models come with single rear wheels. F-350 models are available with single rear wheels (srw) or dual rear wheels (drw). Xl models are pretty basic, with only a two-speaker stereo and fixed-interval wipers. Air conditioning 805) is optional. Xlt models are equipped more like the average passenger car, while luxurious lariats come with an overhead console, leather seats with six-way power, and aluminum wheels. Power telescoping trailer mirrors are available on xlt 220) and standard on lariat and king ranch; they feature heated glass and integral turn signal repeaters. Manually telescoping mirrors are available 125) on xl. A power sliding rear cab window is available on late-2004 models. A sport package 895) for xlt supercabs and crew cabs adds chromed tubular step bars; body-color grille, bumpers, and door handles; sliding rear cab window; fog lamps; privacy glass; an exclusive twill cloth 40/20/40 split-bench front seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.  the fx4 off-road package 225) adds skid plates, rancho shock absorbers, and a steering damper. Skid plates 100) are also available as a stand-alone option.  harley-davidson editions of the 4wd supercab and crew cab are also available. They come with all the king ranch goodies plus 18-inch aluminum wheels and unique harley-davidson design cues inside and out. Color choices consist of black, black and orange, and black and gray. Prices range from $39,340 for a short-wheelbase f-250 supercab to $42,800 for a long-wheelbase f-350 crew cab. walkaroundford super duty pickups are arguably the best-looking heavy-duty pickups available. The new heavy-duty dodge rams are more stylish, while the gm trucks are conservatively styled. The fords have a brawny, no-nonsense look that we find very appealing.  when the current generation of ford super duty pickups appeared in 1999, they conspicuously avoided the rounder, more aerodynamic look then used by the light-duty f-150. Then and now, the super duty trucks looked bluff-nosed and serious, with menacing, square-jawed front ends, brawny raised hoods and aggressive headlamps. Significantly, the all-new 2004 f-150 now looks more like its super duty stablemates.  super duty's dropped sill line gives it a sense of openness and accessibility. It also makes it easier to climb in, a welcome feature when juggling tools, briefcases, or even toddlers. A distinctive dip along the front door side glass improves the driver's view of the exterior mirrors, a big help when towing a trailer or for seeing around cargo boxes or dump-truck bodies. A locking tailgate is standard.  king ranch crew cabs are dressed up with body-color mirror housings and door handles, arizona beige wheel lip moldings, lighted running boards and special king ranch aluminum wheels. Three two-tone paint combinations are available: estate green, chestnut brown, or oxford white; each with arizona beige as the accent color. interiorford super duty trucks are very roomy, with comfortable and spacious seats and plenty of hip and shoulder room.  truck owners spend a lot of time in their vehicles, so the designers at ford paid a lot of attention to comfort and convenience. The interior features a fold-down armrest, a floor console that can accommodate a laptop, and a removable hanging storage bin that can attach to the dash. Even the standard bench seats recline. Controls are big and easy to reach and manipulate. The only exception is the instrument panel dimmer, which is a bit hard to reach. Optional power-adjustable pedals 120) are particularly helpful for smaller drivers, allowing them to sit further away from the airbag in the steering wheel.  two large cupholders are provided. The standard cigar lighter is augmented with a second auxiliary power outlet. The instrument cluster includes a transmission temperature gauge when an automatic transmission is ordered.  passenger-side airbags offer a deactivation switch on regular cab and supercab models. The rear doors are 25 inches wide. They hinge on the rear pillars of the cab and swing out a full 90 degrees from the doorsill, a design that eases the loading of gear and passengers. Hidden vertical beams and a cross brace where the front and rear doors meet contribute to occupant safety.  the rear seat cushion folds up and forward, and the seatback folds down to create a flat, steel loading surface, a perfect place to put tools and other heavy items that need to stay secure and out of the elements. All crew cabs except xl now come with grocery hooks, integrated cup holders and rear-seat head restraints. driving impressionford super duty's standard 5. 4-liter v8 is rated 260 horsepower and 350 pounds-feet of torque. Using computer analysis, ford engineers stiffened the engine block for 2003, reducing radiated noise by as much as 3. 1 decibels.  the 6. 8-liter v10 600) is rated 310 horsepower and 425 pounds-feet of torque. Both gas engines are part of ford's triton series, and employ overhead cams for valve control.  the 6. 0-liter powerstroke turbocharged diesel v8 is an expensive option 5,085), but it is rated 550 pounds-feet of torque at 2000 rpm, and 325 horsepower at 3300 rpm. That's more peak horsepower and torque than the 7. 3-liter turbo-diesel that ford offered until early last year. The new engine is also cleaner running and more economical.  a six-speed manual transmission is standard on all ford super duty models. Its fenders don't seem to fill rural roads ditch to ditch as much as the dodge trucks do. Steering is precise. Handling is good, though not as good as the newer designs from dodge and gm. Body roll is noticeably limited when cornering. Air Conditioning✔ Sport Package✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Leather Seats✔ Aluminum Wheels
